Kristen Luman earned her BA in Psychology from Portland State University where she focused her studies on Human Development and Parapsych. She then went on to study at the Hypnosis Motivation Institute College of Hypnotherapy where she became a Certified Hypnotherapist with honors and a member of the American Hypnosis Association. She also works as a Guided Imagery Meditation instructor at Unplug Meditation.
Kristen’s education in Early Childhood Development and certifications in Child Hypnotherapy and Advanced Child Hypnotherapy has led her to see clients of all ages. She thoroughly enjoys working with kids/teens as well as educating parents on how to create better communication for positive behavior.
Her interest with psychosomatic conditions (a field of psychology that focuses on how behavioral, psychological, and social factors influence bodily processes) motivated her to receive special certifications in stress reduction and pain management. She is an avid user of NLP, the Eriksonian school of thought, and guided imagery. She believes all can be achieved with the power of belief.
During schooling and after graduation, HMI hired Kristen to help educate new students. You can also find her presenting the news and upcoming events for the college as well as hosting American Hypnosis Association seminars.
“While preparing to go on to graduate school for my masters in Psychology, I was introduced to Hypnotherapy. I felt it could be a good tool to use in my practice. I chose to be my own guinea pig to fully understand the process. I was astounded by the simplicity and the effectiveness of the therapy. I decided after only one visit that this is what I should be doing if I truly wanted to make a positive difference in people’s lives. I am now a Hypnotherapist and as I like to call it “a professional belief system enhancer,” and I love it!”
